RM Wolff Announces Leadership Change

RM Wolff, LLC, which provides business valuation solutions, litigation support, forensic and investigative accounting services for business throughout the nation, is changing daily leadership.

Rick Swafford is the new Member in Charge of Professional Services of RM Wolff. Laroy Wolff, who in late 2006 united his company with the three-state accounting firm of Rodefer Moss & Co, PLLC to create RM Wolff, will become technical advisor and consultant to the firm, which has an office in Brentwood.

RM Wolff serves public and private companies, law firms, CPA firms, and others. Among its services are business valuations; intangible asset valuations; valuation consultations for business mergers and acquisitions; serving as financial expert witnesses and consultants in legal proceedings; forensic and investigative accounting.

"Rick and Laroy have worked sid-by-side since we created RM Wolff," said Jimmy Rodefer, Rodefer Moss chief executive officer. "RM Wolff's work is of extraordinary importance in today's business environment. Rick has an exceptional background in this highly specialized area and possesses the critical set of skills these services require."

Laroy Wolff said the change fulfills personal objectives.

"I enjoy this work but I am also ready to step back from day-to-day management activities," he said. "Rick is a thorough professional in this field and I will continue in an advisory and consultant role. It's the right move at the right time."

Swafford is a Certified Public Accountant, Accredited in Business Valuation, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Swafford has broad experience in cases involving business combinations; reorganizations and solvency matters; fair value and fair market value determinations; lost profits; and professional malpractice. He has also consulted in litigation involving estate, gift and trust cases concerning valuation, property and timing of distributions.

He has provided expert testimony in local and federal courts. Swafford is one of only a few CPAs to be appointed examiner for the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern Districts of Kentucky and Tennessee in Chapter 11 reorganization cases.

Other key members of the RM Wolff team are:

  • Richard N. Robinson concentrates primarily on business valuations. He also has extensive experience in RM Wolff's multiple client services based on is more than 30 years of training and practice in specialized accounting procedures.
  • Tonya L. Cherry, who has more than 15 years experience in valuations of closely held companies, limited partnership interests and other intangible assets, forensic accounting and general litigation support as well as investigations of suspected fraud and fraud prevention.
  • Eric Bergesen, who with nine years of experience, has a strong background in merchant banking, mergers and acquisitions, valuation services and capital raises. His experience includes management buyouts, negotiations, and public company fairness opinions.
